150 ans des pompiers tchèques

A short post to share with you this interesting FDC issued by the Czech Post in Prague on March 5, 2014, regarding a stamp dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the firefighters in the country. Thank you very much Bret :-)
I really like that stamp (below to the right), designed by Adolf Born, showing a vehicle used early last century by firefighters, with a dog behind and a cat on the hood announcing the title of this issue !
To note also the presence of Saint Florian, patron of firefighters (among others) in front of the vehicle, using a water pipe (made from one of the wheels...) on a burning house.

According to legend, St. Florian would indeed have fight against burning by pouring a simple bucket of water over fire.
To note the FDC postmark evoking the Bohemian lion appearing on the arms of the country, as a firefighter. Humor is also required in the illustration to the left on this envelope with this firefighter whose whiskers are fire hoses...
Bret had the good idea to use a second stamp above to the left, devoted to the same theme with this firefighter's vehicle Daewoo (CAS 8/AVIA model from 2002).
That stamp is part of a series of three stamps (vehicles used for the fight against fire), issued on October 15, 2003 to mark the 140th anniversary of that same Czech fire-fighting movement.
The first fire brigade was actually founded in Bohemia in 1864 in Velvary.

As usual, Bret was also kind enough to send me the First Day commemorative sheet above about that same stamp.
