455 ans de la poste polonaise

In a post published on this blog on April 12, 2009, I mentioned the two miniature sheets (including one made of silk) issued in 2008 in Poland to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the creation of the postal system in the country.
As a reminder, it is the King Sigismund II Augustus (1520-1572) who was at the origin of this first postal system by creating, on October 18, 1558, the first postal route between the cities of Krakow and Venice, Italy, via Vienna.
The king appointed the Italian merchant Prospero Provano to lead and organise the Royal Post from 1558.
The Polish Post (Poczta Polska) had also commemorated the 400th anniversary of this postal system in 1958 with several issues (7 stamps, 1 souvenir sheet...).

On October 18, 2013, the Polish Post issued a new stamp (4.60 zł, print run : 420,000), in a sheet of 12 stamps, celebrating the 455th anniversary of the establishment of this postal system.
It is that stamp, designed by Agnieszka Sancewicz, that was used on the cover above mailed on November 15, 2013 from the city of Tarnobrzeg. Thank you very much Kazimierz :-)
I like the design of that stamp featuring a cross-section of an oak tree's trunk including the marked centuries (from the XVIth to the XXIth) of existence of the Polish Post !
To note that this stamp was also issued to celebrate the World Post Day ("Światowy Dzień Poczty"), with 9 days behind the date (October 9th)...
