Félins du Brésil - Carte maximum 2012

Felids from Brazil - 2012 Maxicard

On June 5th 2012, the Brazilian Post (Correios) has issued a nice set of two se-tenant stamps dedicated to two species of felids living in Brazil, in order to educate people about their preservation and their role in the Brazilian ecosystem.
I was lucky to receive this interesting maxicard below regrading this series featuring a Jaguarundi (photo by Adriano Gambarini) to the left and an Ocelot (photo by Edson Endrigo) to the right.
Issued in 150,000 copies each, the preview sale of these two stamps (permanent rate "1st level - commercial letter") took place in Campo Grande (State of Mato Grosso do Sul) and São Luís (State of Maranhão).

It is that FDC cancellation from Campo Grande that has been applied on the two stamps above, the two stylized cats on the card being the work of Daniel Effi.
These two species of felines, the Jaguarundi (Puma yagouaroundi) and the Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), rather solitary and with a similar size, are living in different habitats (forests, grasslands, wetlands...) of Central and South America.
The Ocelot, called "Jaguatirica" in Brazil, and the Jaguarundi, called "Gato-mourisco" in Brazil, are not particularly endangered species in the country despite the increasing destruction of their habitat.

The other side of this card above mailed on December 27th 2012 from Sao Paulo. Thank you very much Marcelo :-)
The same FDC postmark from Campo Grande, clearer, was also applied in the upper left.
Finally, I've already mentioned on this blog the three self-adhesive stamps used above being part of two definitive series issued in 2005 and 2002 devoted respectively to popular occupations (shoemaker and tailor here) and to instruments (trumpet here).
