Expo 2012 Yeosu - Pli Premier Jour en Algérie

Expo 2012 Yeosu - Algerian FDC

In two days, the 2012 International Exposition will be officially opened in Yeosu in the Republic of Korea. 19 years after Daejeon, the other Korean city of Yeosu (located on the southwest coast of the country) has indeed been chosen to host this international event of first plan, until August 12, 2012 with nearly 8 million visitors expected.
Algeria is one of the 105 countries participating in this Expo 2012 devoted to the theme "The Living Ocean and Coast" with a focus on the diversity of marine resources and sustainable activities.
Very few postal administrations have issued (for now...) stamps dedicated to this Expo 2012 in Yeosu : South Korea (of course !), the Principality of Monaco and therefore Algeria with a special stamp issued in general sale on March 24, 2012.

It is that stamp (15 Dinars) that appears in two copies on the first day cover above made by Omar, thank you very much :-)
To note the First Day postmark of March 21, 2012 from Oran as well as the hand cancellation of April 23, 2012 from Tlemcen (Imama).
K. Krim, the designer of this stamp, has featured an allegory based on the Khamsa (that stylized hand, a protective symbol in many countries of North Africa) with, it seems, a peace dove and a fish maybe reminding the maritime theme of this Expo...
The official logo of this Expo 2012 is reproduced at the top right on the stamp, evoking the harmony between land and oceans and the balance of the planet's ecosystems. The circle represents the Earth, the red colour evokes the living ecosystem, the blue represents the oceans and the green is used for environment.
To note that France is also participating in this Expo with a pavilion devoted in particular to the desalination of sea water and to the beauty of the French coastline.
