Souvenir parisien des TAAF...

A Parisian souvenir from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands...

From 27 to 29 May 2010 took place in Paris the 2nd edition of the "Club Philatélique de l'Elysée" Stamp Show. At this occasion, an exceptional exhibition about the "1 Franc carmine Empire" (1853) was presented for the first time in public.
The French Post has issued here, in preview sale, the stamp dedicated to Mother Teresa (see my recent post about this stamp on my blog) and a special LISA ATM stamp reproducing a work by Eugene Delacroix.
The postal administration of the TAAF (French Southern and Antarctic Lands), also present at this Stamp Exhibition, has also issued in preview sale a special € 0.56 stamp.

This stamp is included on the beautiful cover above with the FDC cancellation dated May 27, 2010 issued exclusively during this Exhibition.
Thank you very much Jean-Pierre :-)
This postmark includes the famous profile of the goddess Cérès that was reproduced on the 1st French stamps issued from 1849. This same profile appears on the emblem of the "Club Philatélique de l'Elysée".
I wonder about the legality of such a cancellation issued in Paris for a French overseas territory ?
This stamp, reproducing a watercolor painting by Claude Perchat (see her signature under the stamp !) representing the main entrance of the building ("Pavillon Gabriel") where took place this Exhibition, is the first one of a series entitled "The presence of the TAAF in Stamp Exhibitions".
A not really nice and uninteresting stamp in my opinion, I'm waiting for the second stamp in this series, maybe issued during the next "Salon philatélique d'Automne" ?

The illustration on the envelope to the left is reproducing the arms of the TAAF (adopted in 1958) and is refering to the District of Crozet, one of the five Districts making up the vast area of the TAAF.
A King Penguin, an Orca and a view of the main research base of this District (Alfred-Faure base located on Possession Island) are also included.
An interesting green inkpad was affixed on the other side of this letter above. It evokes the protection of Amsterdam Albatross (a critically endangered endemic bird living on the island of Amsterdam), also the theme of a souvenir sheet (4 stamps) issued by the TAAF on June 14, 2010...
