650 years of the foundation of a Moldovan State

2009 is definitely a Jubilee year in the Republic of Moldova with a series of cultural and Philatelic (!) events, devoted to the commemoration of the 650th anniversary of the founding of the Principality of Moldova in 1359.
I've already spoken about this topic by posting on this blog the first postal stationery issued by the Moldovan Post on January 24, 2009, devoted to this anniversary with Prince (or voivod) Bogdan I, who ruled the Principality of Moldavia from 1359 to 1365...
Three other postal stationeries were issued since in honor of Alexandru cel Bun, Vasile Lupu and Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt, the Moldovan national hero.

A 5th postal stationery has been issued on October 21, 2009, this time honoring a more contemporary ruler, Alexandru Ioan Cuza (1820-1873).
Thank you very much Sergio for this FDC above with the nice cancellation from Chisinau and the impressive rectangular postmark announcing the national philatelic exhibition held from October 21 to 30 in the Moldovan capital city.
A portrait of voivod Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt (Stephen III the Great and Holy), Prince of Moldavia from 1457 to 1504 appears on this postmark. A monastery (or a church ?) is also depicted on the left, maybe the Capriana Monastery, one of the oldest in Moldova and the first one in the country to open again its doors in 1989, becoming a symbol of national revival...
Alexandru Ioan Cuza was Sovereign Prince (Domnitor) of Moldavia and Wallachia between 1859 and 1862 and the first ruler of Romania (after the union of the principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia) between 1862 and 1866.
Alexandru Ioan Cuza has already been pictured on a souvenir sheet, issued on November 14, 2008, in the series (started in 1993 !) devoted to the Princes of Moldavia.
The stamp above is reproducing a portrait of the monarch by the Austrian engraver August Strixner, dating from 1860's.

This postal stationery, printed in 30,000 copies, is used for domestic standard letters up to 20g (L 1.20 at present). Sergio had therefore to complete his postage with a L 3.50 stamp affixed on the other side of this postal stationery (see above).
This stamp is part of the definitive series, issued on March 23, 2006, devoted to outstanding architecture buildings located in different cities of the country. This stamp depicts a view dating from 1939 of the façade (Viennese Baroque style) of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Chisinau. This Museum currently houses over 30,000 art pieces (painting, sculpture, drawing, decorative arts) from the 15th to 20th century, works by Bruegel the Elder, Dürer or Renoir (etching "Two women after the bath") for the best known...
