2 nouveaux aérogrammes du Brésil

Two new Brazilian Aerogrammes

In a message dated August 16, 2009, I published a very nice international air letter (aerogramme) issued by the Brazilian Post, which back reproduced a drawing by Etienne Demonte showing an animal scene in a swamp in the Amazonian state of Mato Grosso.
Marcelo (thank you very much !) has sent me a new specimen of international aerogramme below, mailed on September 8, 2009 from Sao Paulo.
Like its predecessor, this one includes the words "International Aerogramme", "Prepaid" and "Air mail" (in Portuguese, French, English and German) and is currently proposed by the Brazilian Post at a price of R$ 1.70. The name of the issuing country is curiously not mentioned ??

A peine 1000 individus vivraient encore à l'état sauvage...
I don't know exactly when it was issued, even if it seems that the year 2000 is included on the right band, which has to be removed in order to read the message written inside the aerogramme.
A reproduction of a drawing by Luiz Santos, showing a Golden Lion Tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia in Latin, Mico-leão-dourado in Portuguese) is pictured on this aerogramme's two sides.
This endangered (deforestation) species of New World monkey, that currently lives in the area of the basin of Rio São João in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Barely 1,000 specimens are still living in the wild...

Another international aerogramme above posted on October 16, 2009 from Santos (Sao Paulo).
Two animal species (drawing by Fernando Quartarone) are depicted this time : an African buffalo (Syncerus caffer) and Maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) inside the "Prepaid" frame as well as on the back of this aerogramme .
The African buffalo, as its name suggests, lives on the African continent, but it may also have been introduced in Brazil (?).
The Maned wolf is a large canid living only in South America (Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil).
As a reminder, France, like more and more other countries, doesn't issue new Aerogrammes anymore...

MMS a dit…

This Aerogramme was issued in January 25, 1999; showing an endangered species.
The Brazilian Post Offices had printed only 40000 units of this model.
