Musée de la poste en Pologne

Post Museum in Poland

80 years later, the Polish Post has commemorated this anniversary with the issue of a nice special souvenir sheet issued on 9th of October 2001.
This sheet is included on the cover below, mailed on 26th of May 2009 from the city of Tarnobrzeg.
Thank you very much Kazimierz :-)
This numbered sheet (total print run : 350,000) was issued with a surcharge of PLN 0.75 in aid of the Museum.

The Museum was created to bring together several collections of exhibits related to the postal history, the telegraph, telephone and of course philately :-)
During the 2nd World War, some collections have been destroyed or transferred to Germany. The Museum was transferred in 1956 to Wrocław in a historical building of the main post office. There is also a division of the Museum in Gdansk.
The museum houses today nearly 70,000 historical exhibits and several million postage stamps, including the 1st Polish stamps issued in 1860 and of course some of the masterpieces of the Polish engraver Czesław Słania.
