Lettres du Benelux

Covers from Benelux

In less than 10 days, I've indeed received three letters from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg !
I'm a fan of the adventures of Tintin and Snowy therefore very pleased to publish today the nice Belgian cover below. Thank you very much Nicole for this interesting "pig" Mail Art specimen, mailed from Brussels on 26th of May 2009 :-)
I let you enjoy the funny priority label with the words "by flying pig" !!!
These three € 0.46 stamps are part of a special sheet of 25 stamps, issued on May 22, 2007, with 24 stamps reproducing Tintin's comic strip books covers (in chronological order) and a portrait of Hergé, its creator, on the 25th stamp.

This series actually commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Belgian comics writer Hergé (1907-1983), the French pronunciation of "RG", his initials reversed (Georges Rémi). Hergé is probably one of Belgium's best known personnalities around the world.
The different comic strip books edited, from "Tintin in the land of the Soviets" (1929) to the posthumous and unfinished "Tintin and Alph-Art" (1986), have been translated into nearly 50 languages and over 200 million copies sold to date !
The 24 covers depicted on this stamp sheet are reproduced in different languages, as on the three stamps above : "Tintin and the Picaros" (1976) in Greek, "Flight 714" (1968) in Indonesian and "The Seven Crystal Balls" (1948) in Arabic...
It's worth noting that on June 2, 2009, the Hergé Museum officially opened its doors in Louvain-la-Neuve (south-east of Brussels).

Thank you very much Piet :-)
The left stamp, issued in a prestige booklet in 2008, is devoted to the 80 years of the NVPH (Dutch Association of stamp dealers). The other five stamps of this the booklet commemorated the 100th anniversary of the NBFV (Dutch Union of Philatelic Associations).
The right stamp was issued on 10th of March 2009 in a booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps. It's celebrating the 125 years of the NVPV (Dutch Association of stamp collectors).
According to the TNT Post, this stamp is available in two versions (type I and type II), what's the difference ?
