Bonne et heureuse Année 2009 !

Happy New Year 2009 !

I know some of you will already be in 2009 when they'll read these lines...
In France, we have to wait four hours now and goodbye 2008 !
In order to philatelically celebrate this event, I wanted to show you on this Dec. 31 a few gifts received from Luxembourg and Liechtenstein :-)
As each end of the year, the postal administrations of these two countries have sent to their customers (including me !) the philatelic souvenirs below.
Let's start with Liechtenstein with the card below.

The illustration reproduces the one of an ancient season's greetings card dating from 1929.
Even if you don't speak German, I guess you can translate by yourself the words at the bottom right : "Frohe Weihnachten und ein glückliches neues Jahr 2009" !
The CHF 1.30 stamp is part of the Christmas series, issued on November 17 2008, composed of three stamps. These stamps, including this Christmas tree, are based on Christmas cards dating from the years 1920's which form part of the collections of the Postal Museum of Vaduz, the capital of the principality.
Note the FDC cancellation depicting a half of flame.

Here is above the greeting card sent this time by the Post Office of Luxembourg.
You'll be able to play the wise guy with your friends wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in Luxembourger : "Schéi Feierdeeg a vill gléck am Neie Joer 2009" !
The Charity Christmas stamp (50 + 5 cents) issued on December 2 2008 was affixed at the top right on this card. The Post of Luxembourg had the excellent idea to appeal to the Belgian artist André Buzin, famous worldwide for his splendid definitive Birds series in Belgium, to design this stamp depicting a deer in the woods :-)
Note that the Luxembourg Post proposed also for sale four greeting cards entitled "Neijoerschdagspost", also designed by Buzin, with pre-stamped envelopes with this same Christmas stamp. 10 cents for each envelope are donated to the local Grand Duchess Charlotte's National Relief Association.
Happy Philatelic New Year to all of you !!
