When Finland calls the shots !

In recent years, the Finnish Post got used to regularly issue some little booklets of 5 self-adhesive stamps.
This was still the case on February 27, 2008 with the pretty colourful series below devoted to popular proverbs showing that certain animals behaviors can make the rain or a dry weather. What a good idea, no ?
This booklet of five "1st class" (€0.70 at present) stamps, with 400.000 issued, is the work of Sari Airola (illustrations) and Marjo Nygard-Niemistö (graphical design).
Thank you very much Hannele for this nice FDC :-))

It's funny to note that some proverbs illustrated above also exist in France ! You will say, a Finnish frog or a French frog is still a frog !
Thus, the Finnish Post reminds us that a snail showing its horns or a frog making long hops or a perch with its dorsal red fin raised are all signs of good weather.
On the other hand, rain is coming when the swallows are flying low or when sheeps gambol in the fields...
Note the simple and beautiful FDC cancellation representing a snail.
Finally, the Post Office of Finland has also issued 5 maximum cards, each with one of the 5 stamps of this booklet, used as prepaid postal stationery to all countries.
