La Malaisie est une fédération de 13 états. C'est aussi une monarchie constitutionnelle dont le chef de l'état est un monarque, le Yang di-Pertuan Agong ("souverain suprême" en malais), appelé plus communément le Roi de Malaisie.
Sa particularité est d'être un des rares monarques élus (pour un mandat de 5 ans) dans le monde. Il est élu parmi les 9 sultans héréditaires des états malais (les 4 autres états dirigés par des gouverneurs ne participent pas à l'élection...).
Son rôle est honorifique, le pouvoir executif est détenu par le premier ministre.
Malaysia is a federation of 13 states. It is also a constitutional monarchy whose Head of the State is a monarch, Yang di-Pertuan Agong (“supreme ruler” into Malay), more commonly called the King of Malaysia.
His characteristic is to be one of the rare monarchs elected (for a 5 years mandate) in the world. He is elected among the 9 hereditary sultans of the Malaysian states (the 4 other states leaded by governors do not take part in the election…).
His role is honorary, the executive power is really held by the Prime Minister.
Comme indiqué sur le cachet en bas à droite de cette jolie enveloppe (merci Ahmad !), l'intrônisation du 13ème Yang di-Pertuan Agong a eu lieu le 26 avril 2007. C'est le 16ème sultan de l'état de Terengganu, Mizan Zainal Abidin, qui a été élu. Son règne a officiellement débuté le 13 décembre 2006.Pour commémorer l'intrônisation du nouveau roi, la poste malaisienne a émis cette jolie série de 3 timbres (30 sen, 50 sen et 1 RM) qu'on retrouve sur l'enveloppe spéciale du 1er jour d'émission. Le XIIIème roi y est représenté dans différents costumes d'apparat :
As indicated on the postmark in bottom on the right of this pretty cover (thanks Ahmad!), the intronisation of the 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong took place on April 26, 2007. It is the 16th sultan of the state of Terengganu, Mizan Zainal Abidin, which was elected. His reign officially began on December 13, 2006.
To commemorate the installation of the new king, the Malaysian Post issued this pretty series of 3 stamps (30 SEN, 50 SEN and 1 RM) which one finds on the special "1st day of issue" cover.

Pour l'anecdote, il est le 2ème plus jeune roi (44 ans) de l'histoire de la Malaisie depuis son indépendance en 1957. Il est aussi le premier à être né après cette indépendance.For the anecdote, he is the 2nd younger king (44 years old) of the history of Malaysia since its independence in 1957. He is also the first one to have been born after this independence.
La photo à gauche de l'enveloppe représente le palais national royal, appelé Istana Negara. Il a été construit en 1928 et était à l'origine la résidence d'un millionaire. Il devint la résidence officielle du couple royal en 1957. C'est ce même palais qui figure sur le cachet "1er jour" officiel, en bas à droite de l'enveloppe.

The picture on the left of the envelope represents the royal national palace, called Istana Negara. It was built in 1928 and was in the beginning the residence of a millionaire. It became the official residence of the royal couple in 1957. This is the same palace which is reproduced on the “1st day of issue” postmark, below on the right of the cover.
